Luge ride at Lake Bled, Slovenia
Polento Sankanje is a luge ride in the storybook village of Bled, Slovenia. The town is located on Lake Bled at the southern foot of the Karawanks mountain range near the border with Austria, about 31 miles northwest of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city.
To start the luge ride, you take a ski chairlift up to the top of the mountain. After admiring the spectacular view of Lake Bled with its island and overlooking castle, it’s time for your ride.
You then get into a tiny plastic sled – which is especially tiny if you are 6 feet, 6 inches (2 meters) tall like Mr. Jones – and fly down the mountain on a slim sliver of steel, twisting and turning as you scream towards the bottom.
The ride is an exhilarating good time. Then you arrive at the bottom, and want to make the trip all over again.
