When we are looking for a hotel, we like to check out photos shot by other guests rather than those on the hotel’s website. To return the favor, we occasionally offer a look inside hotel rooms during our recent stays.
A Look Inside Room 1314 at the Marriott City Center Hotel in Portland, Oregon
In December we made a very quick overnight trip to Portland, Oregon, staying at the centrally-located Portland Marriott City Center hotel just off of Pioneer Square in downtown Portland. Within a block of Pioneer Courthouse Square and a MAX stop, this hotel is an ideally located for a quick weekend getaway in the heart of Portland.
Some hotels skip the 13th floor. Not this hotel. Room 1314 is called a “parlor suite” and is in a quiet location at the end of the hallway.
Upon entering the room, you are in an entryway hall, with the choice of turning right into the bathroom, or left into the “parlor”.
The parlor is a spacious living room, with a television, refrigerator, sofa and other seating, and….
A desk/work area with good lighting. It looks like a sleeper sofa, but we didn’t check.
From the parlor, you enter the bedroom through double doors.

The bathroom is standard, except that it has two entrances, from the bedroom and the entry hallway.
The Portland Marriott City Center offers a top-floor executive lounge with a great view of Portland.
Although this was a quick leisure trip, we’d recommend this room for business stays as well as well with its spacious rooms, numerous plugs, business center and executive lounge.
Or, for a quick weekend wandering in Portland, within walking distance of food carts, Voodoo doughnuts, Powell’s books and major city shopping and restaurants.
