On Monday afternoon this week I was flying into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Alexandria, Virginia on United Airlines.
While I’ve been on many, many flights into Washington National Airport (DCA), the views on my flight this week were spectacular.
In the photo above, you can see the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the National Mall, and the United States Capitol in the far distance.
A few seconds later, a little closer view.
Now the plane is passing the Tidal Basin. You can see the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in the far right side of the photo above.
Now you can see the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in the right side of the photo above.
Next, there was a terrific view of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial (domed building, right side of photo.)
Then we landed at the convenient Ronald Reagan National Airport, which is located three miles south of downtown Washington, D.C., in Arlington County, Virginia. DCA is the closest commercial airport to Washington, D.C. Opened for business on June 16, 1941, it was called Washington National Airport until 1998 when it was renamed to honor former U.S. President Ronald Reagan.
The views were a terrific way to start a travel work week.
