After flying into Montreal, Canada late last evening, we are setting sail today on a 7-Day Canada and New England cruise on Holland America Line.
We boarded Holland America’s ms Maasdam at the Iberville Passenger Terminal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
While the ship was scheduled to leave at 4 p.m., we found out that we would not leaving until 6 pm, giving us time for about an hour walk along the waterfront of the Old Port in the heart of Old Montreal, a French-speaking historic city.
We are looking forward to cooler summer weather as we cruise up the Saint Lawrence River to Quebec City.
Later our ship will cruise the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and take us to Canada’s Prince Edward Island, a new destination for me.
One thing we are excited about for this cruise is to find the best lobster roll in these Canada and New England.
While we’ve sailed on most of Holland America Line’s cruise ships, this will be our first cruise on the ms Maasdam, a 1,258 guest-capacity ship launched in December of 1993. The ms Maasdam is named for the Maas River in the Netherlands.

We are also looking forward to visiting Halifax, Nova Scotia, where Mr. Jones lived while studying at Dalhousie University.
