We arrived in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Sunday morning. Researching these 34 Fun Facts About Belfast, Northern Ireland earlier this year made us want to visit.
While Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom and not an independent country, it is one of the unique destinations on The Travelers’ Century Club List of 324 Destinations that we had not previously visited.
So our arrival in Belfast means that we get to update our progress on the Travel’s Century Club List of 324 Destinations, bringing Mr. Jones’ TCC destination count to 101, and increasing my count to 103.
The Travelers’ Century Club, or TCC, is a club for people who have visited 100 or more of the world’s countries and territories. The TCC list of countries and territories includes not only sovereign states but also certain territories, exclaves and island groups. The club literature notes that “although some are not actually countries in their own right, they have been included because they are removed from parent, either geographically, politically or ethnologically.”
Anyone who has visited 100 or more of the places on the list is eligible to join. The club has no requirements as to how long the traveler must have stayed in a country to qualify. Travelers who have visited 75 or more of the list places can become provisional members.
