Daily Programs from an Alaska Cruise on Eurodam Days 6-7

This is a continuation of the daily programs from Holland America’s 7-Day Alaska Explorer cruise, sailing round trip from Seattle on the Eurodam. If you missed the post with programs from Day 1 and 2, find them here. Days 3-5 programs are here.

Day 6 Eurodam in Ketchikan

The Eurodam’s port call in Ketchikan is only 5.5 hours, and the clock starts ticking at 7 am. Most folks get off the ship shortly after it arrives or within an hour or two; there are very few activities on board scheduled until the 12:30 pm all aboard time.

Things we recommend attending include the Art of Flower arranging. Holland America Line always has fresh flowers on each ship, and at least one florist to make and maintain a number of flower arrangements. This florist will share their tips for flower arranging, and making the arrangements last.

If you enjoy wine, do not miss the Wines of the World Tasting. It costs $25 per person, but you will sample numerous wines from around the world for an hour, and, through much tasting, identify your favorites.

If cocktails are more your thing, check out the Cocktail Mixology event at 3 pm.

Tonight is the second Gala Night of the cruise. If you are dressed up, why not get a portrait taken? There is no charge unless you purchase a photo.

The process has improved significantly on this cruise: you can buy digital copies or prints of your favorite photos for a very attractive price. If you buy a digital copy, you can download it to your phone, and share profession quality photos of your trip on Instagram, Facebook or other social media.

Day 7 Eurodam in Victoria, British Columbia

Day 7 on the Eurodam cruise to Alaska is almost like a sea day in that the ship is sailing all day until 6 pm, or sometimes slightly later if the ship was delayed in leaving Ketchikan. Learn more about Victoria by reading 16 Fun Facts here.

Things we recommend to do during Day 7 of your Alaska cruise include:

  • Participate in the On Deck for a Cause fundraising walk; it is a 5K walk around the deck.
  • See the Future Cruise Consultant and either book your next Holland America Cruise, or just purchase a Future Cruise Deposit for $100 per person. (This $100 serves as the deposit for your next cruise, and gets you some extra shipboard credit.)
  • If you have not tried the Pinnacle Grill Specialty restaurant, try to get a reservation for lunch or an early dinner. Lunch is a bargain at $15 per person while dinner is $39 per person (unless you are a 3, 4, or 5 Star Mariner which gets you a discount.)
  • Watch the EXC Talk on “Breaking the Ice Ceiling in Alaska.”
  • Start packing so you don’t have to do it tonight when the ship is in Victoria.

In the afternoon, do not miss the “Ask The Captain” session if you want to know more about how the ship runs. It is also a good time to attend one more cooking lesson with America’s Test Kitchen, or to watch a performance of classical music at Lincoln Center Stage. Finally, if you have not checked out your cruise photos yet, head to the Wonder Photo Shop on Deck 3.

On some cruises, the ping pong tournament becomes quite competitive. At 6 pm the ship arrives into Victoria. If you do not have a tour, you might want to wait until 6:30 or even 7 pm to head out, as there is usually quite a crowd. Plus, there are usually two other big ships in port.

The night is also your last chance to dance the night away, or just enjoy the terrific music from B.B. King’s All-Stars.

Tomorrow, on Saturdat morning, guests will be able to start departing the Eurodam around 7 am.
