High Five for Friday Travel Highlights

It’ Friday and even though we both enjoyed a rare week at home this week, we found plenty of travel inspirations.

Inspired by Lauren’s High Five For Friday, here are our Top Five Travel Highlights this week:

1. We registered to attend TBEX 12, the world’s largest gathering of travel bloggers and writers June 15-17th, 2012 in Keystone Colorado.  It should be a fantastic and insightful event in a lovely destination.

2. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movie inspired us to visit/revisit India. (While Mr. Jones has traveled to India for work, he has not really experienced the county;  I have not yet visited India.)  In this movie, terrific actors Judy Dench, Bill Nieghy and Maggie Smith portray a group of British retirees traveling to India to live in what they believe to be a newly restored, exotic hotel.

3. A novel renewed excitement for one of our bucket list travel destinationsOn the Island, a romantic novel set in the Maldives, is written and self-published by Tracey Gravis Graces and is a New York Times Best-Seller. Despite the plot involving a plane crash and being stranded on a remote island, the book reinforced my long-time desire to visit the Maldives.  We’ve got a trip planned to experience the Maldives this November.

4. We re-joined the Amtrak Guest Rewards program.  As we plan and prepare for our upcoming train trip from Denver to San Francisco, we re-joined the rewards program for Amtrak. We enjoy travel by train, especially in Europe.  This route is rumored to include spectacular scenery through the Rockies.

5. We relived a fun day touring Sonoma Wine Country by drinking a  bottle of Nalle wine with our friend Michael.  Nalle was one of our favorite small winery discoveries in the Dry Creek Valley during our April visit.
