Who can resist a Ferris Wheel ride?
Especially a colorfully-lighted wheel on the roof of a shopping mall?
When we booked our late-April stay at the Taipei Marriott hotel, we didn’t realize that we would have a terrific view of a Ferris Wheel on the roof of a shopping mall out of our window.
Our suite at the Taipei Marriott offered a fabulous view of the Miramar Entertainment Park – a shopping mall with a 230 feet tall Ferris Wheel built into the rooftop. The hotel is also close to the Neihu Technology Park, the Nangang Software Park and the Taipei World Trade Center.
When you first enter the Miramar Entertainment Park, you will find a typical mall with numerous department and chain stores.
On the fifth floor, however, you will find a variety of restaurants and this red booth. Here you can buy tickets to ride the Ferris Wheel, which costs 200 NT$ (New Taiwan Dollars, currently about $6.32 US dollars) per adult.
After purchasing your ticket, you step towards the big wheel and get a close up look.
You step into the little cars, and off you go.
The views of Taipei are fantastic in all directions. Here’s the view of the Taipei Songshan Airport just past the Keelung River.
We also got a terrific view of the nearby Jiannan Road Station of the Taipei Rapid Transit System. We utilized this transit system to get around Taipei easily. Notice the lush green hills surrounding Taipei.
And, of course there is a great view of the high-rise complex that includes the Taipei Marriott Hotel.
As Ferris Wheel rides go, this one is fun and relatively inexpensive.
