We recently sailed to Alaska on Holland America’s 7-Day Alaska Explorer cruise onboard the ms Eurodam.
This cruise sails round-trip from Seattle’s Pier 91. Many people choose this cruise itinerary for their first visit to Alaska for these reasons:
- Flights are plentiful into and out of Seattle on a number of U.S. airlines. For travelers that live in the continental United States, it is generally easier and less expensive to fly to Seattle than to Vancouver, British Columbia, in Canada, or to Anchorage, Alaska to start and/or end your cruise.
- U.S. citizens do not need a passport to go on this cruise, even though it stops in Victoria, Canada. While it’s always a good idea to have a passport, U.S. citizens can generally go on this and other “closed loop cruises” that start and end in the same U.S. port with an original birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID.
