We are headed to Rome soon to spend a few days in the Eternal City before boarding a cruise ship in the Port of Civitavecchia, 39 miles northwest of Rome.
In preparation of our visit, we’ve enjoying watching some videos to enhance our planning and excitement for our trip.
1. Roman Holiday
No matter how much fun it looks in the movie, we will not be zipping around Rome on a Vespa during our visit.
2. The Layover with Anthony Bourdain, Season 1, Episode 7 – Rome
We love watching and learning about the places Anthony Bourdain explored and the food he ate as he traveled the world.
While it was painful to watch (his death still is hard for us to accept), watching this show made us note some places in Rome that we want to visit — as well as some we want to avoid. Cacio e Pepe — the simple, classic Roman pasta with cheese and pepper is now on our list of “must try” foods while in Rome.
3. Unlock Prati with Our General Manager | Le Méridien Visconti Rome
We were excited to find this video on YouTube featuring Giacomo Guzzardi, general manager of the Le Méridien Visconti Rome showing off highlights of the Prati neighborhood where the hotel is located.
Prati is a part of Rome that is new to us, and this video made us excited to be staying in the neighborhood and staying at this hotel. We recommend watching the video before visiting Rome even if you are not staying at the Meridien or in the Prati neighborhood.
4. The Roman Food Tour – Pizzarium
Our favorite way to learn about the food, drinks, people, and culture of a place is to take a food tour with a knowledgeable local guide.
